We learned the children of La Vega II had an infestation of head lice and the school could not afford medicated shampoo. We purchased medicated shampoo and helped wash the hair of over 100 children. The group also distributed dental kits and demonstrated their proper use. Above are Rita Petersen and one of the teachers washing hair.
Above right are Adelia Hornick and Claudia Day washing hair with medicated shampoo. Above left the girls show off their newly wash hair. The intimate nature of the hair washing was very special to all involved and further cemented our relationship with the people (teachers, parents, and children) of La Vega II.
